Forensic workshop for students from the American Academy

“The elixir is gone. Let’s start the investigation.” These words marked the beginning of a workshop for international students from the American Academy in Brno. The students chose one of our most popular workshops: Forensic laboratory: Solve a crime using chemistry! For several hours, they became investigators with a single task – to identify the perpetrator using scientific methods.

American Academy Student

The students chose one of our most popular workshops: Forensic lab: Solve a crime using chemistry!

For a few hours, they became investigators with a single task: to identify the culprit using scientific methods.

Chemistry as a detective tool

The workshop was designed as an interactive case in which the participants gradually collected evidence and analyzed it in the laboratory.
They tried, for example:

  • working with fingerprints

  • blood detection using chemical reactions

  • analysis of an unknown substance

Each experiment was part of a suspenseful story and led step by step to identifying the culprit.

When suspense meets science

The forensic workshop showed that chemistry does not have to be only about equations and formulas. Combined with a story and a detective plot, it becomes a tool that helps us understand the world around us, and sometimes even catch criminals.
The culprit caught. Curiosity awakened. Mission accomplished ✔️
