Original Abstract

Tumor markers are defined as molecules which indicate the presence of a specific cancer and can provide information about its likely future behavior. These biomarkers are an important tool in the cancer detection, treatment, and patient follow-up (Duffy 2017). In this chapter we discuss tumor biomarkers in the form of proteins that can be indirectly detected via antibody labelling while other tumor biomarkers (e.g., DNA and RNA) are considered only tangentially.
