β-glucans represent valuable bioactive compounds with wide biotechnological potential. In this study, several yeast strains from both Ascomycota and Basidiomycota divisions were cultivated on eight different carbon sources to evaluate their effect on biomass production and β-glucan synthesis. Quantitative analysis revealed significant interspecies variation in glucan yield and carbon source utilization. These results provide crucial insights for optimizing microbial polysaccharide biosynthesis for industrial and pharmaceutical applications.
