Original Abstract

In this study we tried to employ tandem mass spectrometry on spherical ion trap with electrospray ionization for the structure confirmation of newly synthesized boranes and heteroboranes and for the identification of undesirable by-products and impurities in the reaction mixtures. The interpretation of measured product mass spectra was complicated by the multiplets resulting from the borone isotopic distribution, by non-specific sequential hydrogen losses and also by inhibition of fragmentation in presence of selected cations.
