Original Abstract
This paper presents a case study evaluating the resilience of the medium voltage distribution system in the Czech Republic. The system, which is operated in a radial or ring configuration, shows exceptional adaptability in response to a fault, effectively isolating the affected areas while maintaining uninterrupted power to connected customers. This paper presents an assessment and quantification of the impact of load break switch malfunction on the resilience of the distribution network to large-scale disturbances. Furthermore, the paper presents the possibility of considering the impact of aging of these elements on the overall system unavailability and calculating the relevant resilience metrics. The possibilities of optimizing preventive maintenance in the network to reduce the unavailability and eventual total outage-related costs are discussed.
