Original Abstract

The main purpose of this study was the optimization of a HPLC method with UV-VIS detection for the identification of low-molecular-weight degradation products of the PEG-ITA-PLGA-ITA-PEG biodegradable copolymer in surrounding medium and using GPC as the method for characterization the copolymer break-down by monitoring the changes in molar mass distribution and polydispersity of the solid polymer phase. The degradation product separation was provided on the HPLC instrument (Agilent Technologies 1100 Series, USA) equipped with a diode array detector (UV, wavelength of 210 nm). The liquid standards of D,L-lactic acid, glycolic acid and diglycolic acid were prepared about uniform concentration of 1mg/ml in Mili-Q water or in mobile phase. As a mobile phase, acetonitrile and phosphate buffer made from phosphoric acid and potassium phosphate dibasic, were applied.
