Course detail
Analytical Aesthetics - winter
FaVU-ANE-ZAcad. year: 2010/2011
The purpose of the seminar is an attempt to explain the criteria of classifying works of art as paradigmatic in the given genre. The difference between so called inner and outer qualities and inner and outer values will be explained. The boundary cases, when it is not clear whether a work of art belongs to the canon or not, will be discussed. The following argument will be analysed: "The works of art belong to the canon because they are innerly valuable." Students will work with the notions of context, quality, relation, value, supervenience and with the attributes "artistic" and "aesthetic".
