Invitation to the seminar: From lab to patent – A PhD student’s journey between science and the real world

You are warmly invited to a seminar led by Dr. Martin Pekař, taking place on Wednesday, 23 April 2025, at 2:00 PM in classroom P17.

As part of the course “Fundamentals of Scientific and Professional Work in Chemistry and Related Fields” and PhD education, we are pleased to invite you to an exceptional seminar with a guest from practice – Dr. Martin Pekař.

👉 When and where?
📅 Wednesday, 23 April 2025
🕑 From 2:00 PM
📍 Classroom P17

The seminar will be led by Dr. Martin Pekař, who completed his PhD in biomedical engineering at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He then spent ten years in applied research at Philips Research in Eindhoven. Today, he helps other inventors protect their ideas as a future patent attorney at V.O. Patents & Trademarks in The Hague. In his talk, he will share his professional journey – from applied research through innovation to patents, and how a PhD student can find a career in a company where science meets real-world practice.

The attractive topic is sure to be interesting not only for PhD students, but also for academic staff and students interested in innovation, research, and their practical applications.

We look forward to seeing you there!
