Food Quality, Circular Economy & Biotechnology Synergies
The BIP connects experts from European universities with students across all levels of study to jointly explore innovative approaches to sustainable food systems. By combining academic excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and practical case studies, the programme highlights how biotechnology can improve food quality, close resource loops, and drive the circular economy. It provides a platform for knowledge exchange, skill development, and cross-border cooperation, directly contributing to EU priorities such as the Green Deal, circular economy policy, farm-to-fork strategy, and the bioeconomy strategy.
Blended intensive programme
The BIP combines online learning and an intensive on-site experience to address real challenges at the crossroads of food quality, biotechnology, and the circular economy. Online activities include expert lectures from partner universities, preparatory teamwork, and guided project development. During the physical part in Brno, participants will engage in interactive workshops, hands-on multidisciplinary projects, and excursion to a biotechnological company. Working in international teams, students at all levels collaborate with academic experts to design innovative solutions for sustainable food systems and environmental resilience.
Participants will strengthen their understanding of how biotechnology supports food quality, circular economy principles, and environmental protection. Through international and multidisciplinary teamwork, students will develop practical skills in project design, problem-solving, and sustainable innovation, while also enhancing their intercultural competencies, teamwork abilities, and critical thinking. Upon successful completion, participants will gain a certificate, and 3 ECTS credits.
The BIP programme fosters stronger academic–industry cooperation and build a European network of young professionals and experts committed to advancing sustainable food systems and safeguarding the environment.
