Meeting with academics

We warmly invite all students to the first lecture in a new series of inspiring meetings with academics from the Faculty of Chemistry. The inaugural lecture will take place on 31 March at 12:30 in P1 and will be delivered by Professor Stanislav Obruča from the Institute of Food Chemistry and Biotechnology.

Would you like to know how an enthusiastic student becomes a successful scientist? What was the journey of our lecturers to their current degrees and scientific discoveries? Come and listen to the personal stories of our academics, who will share their early experiences in academia, discuss their scientific careers, and present the latest research they are conducting at the Faculty of Chemistry. The event will also include an overview of their involvement in research teams and collaborations with other experts.

About the Speaker:
Professor Stanislav Obruča is a faculty member at the Faculty of Chemistry, Brno University of Technology, and head of Biotechnology and Biomaterials Group. His research and teaching focus on microorganisms and their ability to not only degrade but also produce polymeric materials. One of his key research areas is the use of bacteria for sustainable bioplastics production from waste materials. He is also deeply engaged in broader discussions about plastics, material needs, and the expectations of human society. With over 80 scientific publications and numerous professional and popular science lectures, he is a respected expert in the field.

📅 Date: 31 March 2025
