Science, ideas and sustainability: Faculty of Chemistry BUT hosted an international workshop

At the turn of October, the Faculty of Chemistry hosted the third edition of Autumn Workshop on Functional Organic Materials for a Sustainable Future. The three-day event attracted dozens of participants from across Europe – experienced scientists, PhD candidates and students united by their interest in sustainable materials and modern chemistry.

Author: Tomáš Malcher
The programme featured two scientific lectures by renowned professors, which attracted exceptional attention. The workshop stood out for its high professional level as well as its friendly atmosphere. The interest from both students and experts showed that sustainability remains a current topic offering many opportunities for discovery and practical application of research results.

The workshop’s excellent atmosphere was further enhanced by the poster session, where young scientists presented their projects, discussed new ideas, and gathered valuable insights from more experienced colleagues. The intergenerational exchange and open sharing of experiences were among the most significant benefits of the event.

This year also saw a record number of international participants, especially from Austria – with representatives from four universities in Innsbruck, Linz, Krems and Vienna. The workshop thus confirmed its position among the key scientific gatherings in the field of sustainable materials and technologies.

With the support of the Faculty of Chemistry, Brno University of Technology, it was possible to create a space where experience, ideas, and new scientific collaborations come together.

Everyone is already looking forward to the next edition – promising an even more diverse programme and new partner universities.
