Student conference Chemistry Is Life 2025: Who received this year’s awards?
On Thursday, 27 November 2025, the Faculty of Chemistry hosted the traditional student conference Chemistry Is Life, which this year drew a large number of participants. We would like to thank all participating students for their valuable and inspiring contributions, and we congratulate the award recipients! Below you can find the results of each section:

High School Section

- The Scientific Committee Award was presented to Tomáš Prokeš for his poster Optimisation of the Synthesis and Purification Methods of Plasmonic Nanoparticles.
- An Honourable Mention went to Václav Šauer for his contribution Synthesis, Characterisation, and Catalytic Activity of Metalosilicates.
- An Honourable Mention was awarded to Ester Milada Vata and Sabina Antlová for their contribution Using the Diffusive Gradients in Thin Films Technique for Elemental Analysis of Energy Drinks.
Bachelor’s and Master’s Student Section
1) Subsection Life Sciences
- The Scientific Committee Award was given to Emma Houfková for her contribution Bioinspired SERS Substrates from Morpho Butterfly Wings.
- An Honourable Mention went to Vít Novotný for his work Chromones as C. albicans Inhibitors: From Library Repurposing to Target Protein Identification.
- An Honourable Mention was awarded to Dominika Hanušová for her contribution The Role of microRNA in Regulating Cellular Plasticity.
2) Subsection Materials and Organic Chemistry
- The Scientific Committee Award was presented to Dementiev Danylo for his work Testing Organometallic Coordination Grids as Multivalent Ligands in Protein Degradation.
- An Honourable Mention went to Eva Jazmína Tomečková for her contribution Study of Flavin Derivatives for Use in Eco-Friendly Batteries.
- An Honourable Mention was given to Ivan Kirishiantsev for his contribution Modifying the Optical Activity of Chiral Nanomaterials.
PhD Student Section
1) Subsection Life Sciences
- The Scientific Committee Award was granted to Mario Monaco for his work Multifunctional Molecules for Application in Ophthalmic Surgery.
- An Honourable Mention by the Scientific Committee went to Nikola Švarcová for her contribution Synthesis of Vitamin B2-Inspired Substances for Photochemical Processes in Medical Applications.
- An Honourable Mention by the Scientific Committee was awarded to Jakub Harvalík for his work Molecular Modeling Investigation of Selected Antiviral Drug Candidates and Their Mechanism of Action.

- The Scientific Committee Award was presented to Kryštof Koller for his work Why PTC Ceramics Degrade — and How to Make It Happen Faster.
- An Honourable Mention was awarded to Mariia Kostenko for her contribution Raman-Active Polymer/Clay Nanocomposites: Preparation and Thermal Characterisation.
