In this work utilization of rapeseed cake by some carotenogenic yeasts strains (Sporobolomyces roseus, Rhodotorula glutinis, and Cystofilobasidium capitatum) was compared. The strains were cultivated on basic glucose medium (control), on rapeseed cake and in media with different ratio of glucose and rapeseed cake. All tested strains were able to utilize rapeseed cake as a nutrition source, growth and pigments production substantially differed in individual strains. As the best producer of metabolites S.roseus was found.
