Abstract

Original Abstract

The main aim of this work is the study of releasing of the solubilized substances from the phase separated hydrogels and to determine the solubilization capacity of these hydrogels. Hydrogels are colloidal materials which can be, under proper conditions, prepared by interaction between polymers and oppositely charged surfactants via electrostatic forces. Surfactants are able to form micellar structures suitable for solubilizing hydrophobic compounds in aqueous environment of the gel. Resulting materials (hydrogels) contain hydrophobic nanodomains which are possible to use in medicine, e.g. hydrophobic drugs for topical applications, drug delivery systems and so on. For releasing tests were used fluorescein and acridine orange as fluorescent probes and hydrogels were monitored after 24, 48 and 72 hours from their preparation. For hydrogels monitoring was used fluorescence correlation spectroscopy because of the high sensitivity of this method. Hydrogels were prepared from hyaluronic acid and positively charges surfactant carbethopendecinium bromide.
