Abstract

Original Abstract

High resolution ultrasonic spectroscopy (HR-US) is one of techniques for material analysis. The nature of ultrasonic spectroscopy is very close to the principle of commonly known spectroscopic methods, which are based on the interaction of electromagnetic radiation with sample. HR-US measures are based on the measurements of velocity and attenuation on acoustical waves at high frequencies propagating through materials. This technique allows direct and non-destructive measurement. Advantage of this technique is the ability of ultrasonic waves to propagate through optically non-transparent materials. In this contribution, HR-US technology (HR-US 102T) has been employed to study of hyaluronan (HA) aqueous solutions. HR-US was used to examine the properties of solutions of HA of different molecular weights, depending on the concentration and temperature of the solution. Furthermore, the effect of ionic strength was examined by dissolving HA in 0.15 M aqueous NaCl solution.
