Original Abstract

One of the most important groups of biobased and biodegradable polymers are polyhydroxyalkanoates. In our work, we focused on the influence of polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) microparticles on the aquatic organism Daphnia magna. We tested the effect of two size fractions (particles <63 μm and <125 μm) of PHB. No negative effect on the organism was observed during the standard duration (24 and 48 h) of the acute test. We also observed a decrease in the reproductive activity of D. magna with increasing concentrations of PHB in the suspension.
