Aktivní vrstva senzoru je tištěna z tiskové formulace, která je tvořena polymerním pojivem poskytující základní kyselou rezervu, acidobazickým indikátorem bromkresolová purpur (BKP), bílým inertním plnivem zajišťujícím opacitu vrstvy, vodou a pomocnými aditivy pro zlepšení tiskového chování. Pro omezení možného rozpouštění barviva do potraviny v obalu je senzor navíc přetištěn vrstvou na bázi polystyrenu.

The active layer of the sensor is printed from a printing formulation that consists of a polymer binder providing a basic acid reserve, the acid-base indicator bromocresol purple (BKP), a white inert filler ensuring the opacity of the layer, water and auxiliary additives to improve printing behavior. In order to limit the possible dissolution of the dye into the food in the package, the sensor is additionally overprinted with a polystyrene-based layer.
