Original Abstract

This research focuses on the use of LA-ICP-MS to study the distribution of elements in the hearts of rats in which myocardial fibrosis has been induced. An appropriate measurement methodology has been developed to detect and investigate changes in elemental distribution due to myocardial fibrosis. From the comparison of healthy and fibrotic tissue, it is possible to localize the myocardial fibrosis whereas the attention is focused on the distribution of iron. It is assumed that iron is capable for early detection of myocardial damage.

English abstract
