Original Abstract
Production of carotenoids by ten strains of carotenogenic yeasts (5 strains of Rhodotorula, 3 strains of Sporobolomyces, 2 strains of Cystofliobasidium) under stress conditions was studied. As exogenous stress factors 10 mM hydrogen peroxide and 10% NaCl were used. Carotenoids (torulen, lycopene, carotenes, phytoene) were extracted from cell membranes and analysed using RP-HPLC. In most of strains stress conditions led to induction of pigments production.
