Original Abstract

Carotenoids represent a group of valuable molecules for the pharmaceutical, chemical, food and feed industries, not only because they can act as vitamin A precursors, but also for their coloring, antioxidant and possible tumor-inhibiting activity. Recently, microbiological production of carotenoids prior synthetic production is examined. Microbial production in nowadays is focused on reusing of wastes substrates, because of huge economical impact on the overall economical and therefore environmental situation. Due to increasing demand on biodiesel and oil production is main waste substrate accumulated in a huge amount is rapeseed cake residue. The 1.1 million tonnes in 2012 was produced in Czech Republic, which belongs to 12 top rapeseed producers in the world.
