Commemorative gathering: Jiří Baborovský – 150th anniversary of his birth

On May 19, 2025, the Faculty of Chemistry BUT commemorated the 150th anniversary of the birth of an important figure in Czech physical chemistry, Prof. PhDr. et PhMr. Jiří Baborovský. A pioneer in his field, he significantly contributed to establishing chemistry at BUT. In both his teaching and scientific work, he focused primarily on physical chemistry and electrochemistry. His legacy continues to resonate not only in the academic sphere but also in numerous applied research areas.

The commemorative afternoon offered a rich program of expert presentations, discussions, and demonstrations of Prof. Baborovský’s work. Participants had the opportunity to learn more not only about his scientific contributions but also about the historical context of his tenure. Thanks go to all participants, organizers, and speakers who helped preserve the legacy of this exceptional figure in Czech science.
