We have joined Czech BCSD

Faculty of Chemistry BUT has become a member of the Czech Business Council for Sustainable Development (Czech BCSD), a specialized business platform that connects sustainability, resilience, and competitiveness with global know-how.

We have recently become an Associate Member of the Czech Business Council for Sustainable Development (Czech BCSD). It is the national business association dedicated to sustainability, resilience, and competitiveness, while also serving as the 64th national network of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), the world's largest business-led sustainability organization, bringing together more than 250 leading companies.

Membership connects companies, universities, and other institutions with a strong professional community and provides access to international best practices, the latest sustainability trends, and proven methodologies. Czech BCSD members and partners include organizations such as the ČEZ Group, PwC, EY, Komerční banka, and Veolia, as well as universities and expert institutions including the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, the Institute of Circular Economy, and the Czech Chamber of Commerce.

What Czech BCSD focuses on

  • Business dialogue, awareness, and networking – bringing together the professional community around sustainability and emerging regulations, including CSRD, the EU Taxonomy, ecodesign, and sustainable finance.
  • International best practices, education, and innovation – transferring global know-how and supporting research projects at both the national level (TA CR) and the European level (LIFE, Horizon Europe).
  • Strengthening supply chain performance – providing education through the upcoming CBCSD Academy, inspired by the WBCSD Academy.
  • Ethical advocacy and an enabling business environment – engaging in initiatives such as the Clean Industrial Deal (CID).

For the Faculty of Chemistry, this membership is a natural step forward. We have long been committed to connecting science, research, and innovation with industry while addressing sustainability challenges and developing technologies for a better future. Our cooperation with Czech BCSD will enable us to further expand these activities, share research outcomes with the business community, and strengthen interdisciplinary and cross-sector partnerships.
