  4. 1st Autumn workshop on functional organic materials for sustainable future

1st Autumn workshop on functional organic materials for sustainable future

On 15 and 16 November 2023, the 1st Autumn workshop on functional organic materials for a sustainable future took place at the Faculty of Chemistry, Brno University of Technology. A total 39 participants attended, and 28 lectures and presentations were on the programme. The event also included two public lectures by renowned personalities in the field of organic and physical chemistry, professors Serdar Sariciftci (JKU Linz) and Heinz Langhals (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München).

Both lectures were very popular among students, who were given an insight into the cutting-edge research of international teams. During the closed workshop, many topics sparked great interest which was confirmed by numerous discussions among participants. Without a doubt, the most valuable benefit of the event is the reinforcement of cooperation between the parties involved, that is facilities from Austria, Italy, Bulgaria, Serbia and Slovakia, as well as from Prague, Czech Republic.

The international overlap of this event plays a key role in strengthening the cooperation that will enable complex research and subsequent application of the findings in the field of global research on organic electronics and bio-electronics. The resulting consortium of research teams will have a much bigger influence on the process of grant applications at the European level. These issues were also debated on this forum. In the future, the consortium will apply for international funding, which could significantly contribute to the increased reputation of FCH and BUT and the development of the entire geographic region.
