Our PhD students excelled at a prestigious conference

At the end of May, the Interdisciplinary Meeting of Young Life Scientists 2025 took place in Milovy, bringing together young researchers from various disciplines across the natural sciences. The Faculty of Chemistry at BUT was represented by four of our PhD students – and they certainly stood out!

In the category Advanced Analytics and Material Science, the following students presented:

🔹 Nicole Černeková, who placed in the TOP 3 with her presentation “Polyhydroxyalkanoates as Functional Biomaterials for 3D-Printable Hydrogels”

🔹 Martin Súkeník with the contribution “Innovative Biofertilizer Formulation Utilizing Self-Gelating Azotobacter Vinelandii”

🔹 Štěpán Krobot with the topic “Slow-Release Nitrogen-Based Fertilizers Coated with Biodegradable Poly(3-Hydroxybutyrate)”

🔹 And also Jan Šindelář, who participated with poster in another scientific section of the conference.

“Regarding the conference itself, it was of a very high level in terms of the research presented, and I was truly amazed by what my peers are investigating. Cancer research and treatments were a major theme – it was clearly a hot topic. What really resonated with me was the idea that you might have a Nobel-worthy topic, but if you can't present it in an engaging, accessible way to a broad audience, it simply won’t capture attention or fulfill its potential. That’s what made this conference so great – the variety of topics was huge, and to truly connect with the audience, we had to focus on how to communicate our topic clearly,” shared Nicole Černeková about the atmosphere at the conference.

Congratulations to all participants – your dedication, knowledge, and presentations are a great representation of our faculty and an inspiration for other students and young scientists!
