Baltic Biomat Materials Conference in Poland

The 2nd Baltic Symposium on Polymer and Materials Science (Baltic Biomat 2025) international conference took place in Poland on September 17–19, 2025. Participants from various parts of Europe presented the results of their research focused on new materials for medical applications. Various projects were also presented, such as the FURIOUS project, which deals with the optimization of the synthesis of new materials and their processing not only for medical applications.

Among the award winners was PhD student Ing. Pavlína Guziurová from the Institute of Food Chemistry and Biotechnology, who won 3rd place in the poster section for her contribution. It presented research on isolated marine bacteria from the Baltic Sea and their ability to decompose bio-based polymers and change the properties of the materials studied. The award confirms the importance of environmentally oriented research and the contribution of microorganisms to sustainable development in the field of polymer and materials science.
