Invitation to the lecture: Fibre microplastics and textile ecology

Lecture by prof. Ing. Jakub Wiener, Ph.D., from the Technical University of Liberec will be held in the P8 auditorium on Monday, 12 February 2024 at 12:00 pm.

The Institute of Materials Chemistry invites you to the lecture of the seminar "Advanced Materials"

Prof. Ing. Jakub Wiener, Ph.D.
Technical University of Liberec
Fibrous microplastics and the ecology of textiles

Fibrous microplastics are the most common form of microplastics we encounter in everyday life, as they are released from the clothes we wear. Unfortunately, fibrous microplastics are also the most harmful form of microplastics due to their morphology and chemical composition. The lecture will focus not only on the issue of microplastics, but also on the ecological aspects of garment production, the durability of garments and their recycling. Sustainability in textiles and clothing will also be discussed. The lecture will include a short introduction to the issues of production to the extent necessary to understand the main topic of the lecture. Ecology and sustainability is not about technology, but rather about frugality. Don't expect breakthrough solutions. I am not offering solutions, but warning against not solving the problem.

The lecture will take place in lecture room P8, Brno University of Technology, Purkyňova 464/118, Brno, on Monday, 12 February 2024, 12:00 pm.
