Course detail
Microscopy and morphology of polymers
FCH-DCO_MMPAcad. year: 2011/2012
Objective of the course is to illustrate microscopical techniques to study supermolecular structures of polymers (visible-light microscopy, electron transmission and scanning microscopy), and acquaint with morphology of polymers and polymeric systems. Morphology topics are crystals from diluted and concentrated solutions, crystallisation from melts, results of non-equilibrium processes on the morphology formations, and supermolecular structures in polymer blends and composites with polymer matrix. Attention is paid also to the relation of the polymer structure with their properties, and to the modifications of morphology to obtain desired end-use properties. Other techniques for morphology analysis are mentioned as well.
