Laboratory Classes in Modern Reproduction Processes
FCH-MCO_MRP_PAcad. year: 2012/2013
Laboratory classes are focused on work with digital photographic cameras, understanding color management system in workflow and communication, learning of inkjet printing techniques, digital microphotography, objective evaluation of prints, print characteristics control and accelerated ageing of prints, ICC profiles creation. The objective evaluation of materials and images is emphasized.
This practical lab course must be registered together with the theoretical lecture course.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Teaching and learning is aided by the means of an e-learning course which contains all necessary study materials.
Introductory reading, detailed working instructions and report preparation instructions are provided for each task so most of the time students are able to work fully independently.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
- 100% attendance of the course (lessons missed for medical and serious personal reasons need to be substituted at the end of the semester)
- submitting reports from all the lessons
- final written test (100-90% = A, 89-80 = B, 79-70 = C, 69-60 = D, 59-50 = E, 49-0 = F).
Course curriculum
2. Digital photomicrography.
3. Accelerated ageing of inkjet prints.
4. ICC profile creation of input devices: ICC profile of scanner, CRT and LCD monitor, digital camera. Photography scanning.
5. ICC profile creation of output devices: ICC profile of inkjet printer. Data conversion to other colour spaces, print quality simulation and proofing.
6. Printer linearization. RIP and monochromatic printing of digital photographs.
Work placements
Aims
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
A written report summarizing the work procedure, measured data and their interpretation must be composed for each of the 12 tasks. It must be submitted by the end of the semester at latest, preferably the following week after the task has been passed. Unsatisfactory reports are returned for corrections.
