Technology of Air Protection

Sources of air pollution, physicochemical changes of selected air pollutants, principles of operation of selected industrial equipment used in air protection, technologies for reducing emissions of sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides and their combined methods, waste incineration, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide separation procedures, problematics of separation PCB, PCDD, PCDF. Possibilities of reduction of traffic emissions and examples of selected industrial processes - generation and liquidation of various emissions.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Basic knowledge of emissions from various industries. Overview of physical and chemical changes of selected air pollutants. Basic knowledge of methods and technologies used in reducing of an environmental air pollution. Understanding the principle and philosophy of mentioned methods. Basic orientation in current energy sources burdening the air. Students will be able to consider and select appropriate and effective process technologies for reducing of an industrial emissions to the air.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course uses teaching methods in form of Lecture - 2 teaching hours per week. The e-learning system (LMS Moodle) is available to teachers and students. During the semester, students can use the tutorial tutorial as needed.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Completing the course proceeds in the form of Examination. In the examination, which is oral, the theoretical knowledge of the taught problems of komplex envitonmental technologies are checked.

5. Redcution of emissions of sulphur oxides

8. Combined emission reduction methods of sulphur oxides and nitrogen oxides
9. Waste incineration
10. Separation methods of carbon dioxide and hydrogensulfide and problematics of separation PCB, PCDD, PCDF
11. Traffic emissions
12. Examples of selected industrial processes - creation and liquidation of emissions

Aims

To provide students with the survey of individual technologies which can limit the amount of emissions and imissions with the respect to the character of them so that the optimal result could be achieved.
