From May 18 to 20, 2025, the 53rd annual symposium on new trends in food production and evaluation – the CzechFoodChem 2025 conference – took place at Prague's Náplavka, organized under the auspices of the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague (UCT Prague).
The conference was attended by doctoral students from the Department of Food and Biochemical Technology, namely two third-year students, Ing. Kristina Trenzová and Ing. Matěj Rychetský, and first-year student Ing. Pavlína Knapovská. The program featured expert lectures on topics such as insects as a novel food source, alternative proteins, fermentation, and the potential occurrence of toxic substances formed during food heating. In addition to the professional program, participants visited UCT Prague, where they took part in sensory evaluation sessions. They also toured the Bethlehem Chapel, enjoyed a performance by the ChemChór choir, and the event concluded with a social evening at the Náplavka.
At the end of the conference, an award was presented for the best poster presentation, which was won by our student, Ing. Pavlína Knapovská.
