Faculty of Chemistry BUT restructures research groups within the Materials Research Centre
Faculty of Chemistry BUT has implemented a major restructuring of its research system. The former laboratory-based structure of the Materials Research Centre (MRC) has been replaced by a new model built around dynamic research groups that more accurately reflects the current organisation of research activities at the faculty. The new framework strengthens the autonomy and responsibility of individual teams while creating a more flexible environment for modern scientific research. The restructuring responds to the need for a more efficient organisation of research and is expected to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, scientific excellence, and the faculty's international competitiveness.
“The entire transformation was based on a bottom up approach. We gave our academic staff the opportunity to define the research areas they want to pursue and identify the colleagues they wish to collaborate with over the long term. This approach has enabled us to update and clearly describe the actual structure of research at the faculty. The newly established research groups represent genuinely active research units that we can now support more effectively through targeted funding and development opportunities. I believe this is an important step that will help us conduct research more effectively, more efficiently, and with a stronger international perspective,” said Prof. Stanislav Obruča, Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry at Brno University of Technology.
