Silver and gold nanoparticles were prepared by non-thermal plasma system based on the pin-hole discharge directly in liquid precursors of desired metals. Plasma was generated by dc non-pulsing high voltage (mean input power of 50 W). Liquid precursors were composed of water solution of AgNO3 or HAuCl4 and alternatively, of caping agents (sucrose or poly-ethyleneglycol) to improve their biocompatibility. To assess possible ecotoxicological effects of prepared nanoparticles, solutions of nanoparticles were applied in hydroponic growth of Sinapis alba. UV-VIS spectrometry was employed for primary analysis of prepared nanoparticle solutions, content of nanoparticles in plants and residual solutions was determined by AAS, and nanoparticles itself were characterised by DLS and SEM.
