In this study we tried to employ tandem mass spectrometry on spherical ion trap with electrospray ionization for the structure confirmation of newly synthesized boranes and heteroboranes and for evaluation of their fragmentation routes in order to simplify the identification of unknown by-products. The possibilities of high-resolution mass spectrometry on high-resolution TOF-based instrument for the identification of cluster boron compounds are also evaluated.
