Originální abstrakt

The authors deal with security and safety in the European Union (EU). In the introduction they suggest experts be employed to prepare forecasts and to assess information related to processes (phenomena, events), which cannot be measured in physical terms. In the next part of the paper readers are informed about the EU strategic goals in the field of the protection of a population against nuclear, radiological, bacteriological and chemical (NRBC) risks. The authors report on the outcomes of research in the EU and their application in practice. In conclusion MAHB, MARS, and NEDIES tools are described. It is important to manage the prevention of disaster and to inform population about the principles of self-protection.
