Originální abstrakt
Atomic force microscopy (surface topography, phase imaging, lateral forces), atomic force acoustic microscopy, and dynamic mechanical analysis (modulus mapping) were utilized to characterize the interphase region for unsized, industrially sized, and plasma coated glass fibers (GF) in GF/polyester composite. The nanoscale imaging techniques revealed that all the composite interfaces (interlayer/fiber, matrix/interlayer, or matrix/fiber in case of unsized fibers) are relatively sharp with respect to a steep change of mechanical properties within a distance of only several tens of nanometers.
