IVAN SAMOHÝL

Ivan spent his whole academic career, more than 40 years, at Institute of Chemical Technology Prague (nowadays University of Chemical Technology) working at first as an assistant and later associate professor of physical chemistry at the Department of Physical Chemistry. His lifelong scientific field of interest was non-equilibrium, particularly rational, thermodynamics and its applications to chemically reacting systems including its consequences to chemical kinetics. His approach and methods were always careful and rigorous and stressed awareness of limits of models he studied and developed. His modesty perhaps reduced broader familiarization with his work and appreciation which it deserves. At least, list of his key publications is here:
