O projektu
CO2 is a significant greenhouse gas while water is abundant source. Establishing a carbon neutral cycle by conversion of CO2 into value-added chemicals like CO, CH4, or methanol aligns with the Green Deal. This project seeks to combine expertise in synthesis of catalytically active materials (FCH BUT), and developing (photo)electrocatalytic systems for CO2 conversion and water splitting (TUW). Specifically, thoroughly designed complexes and bio-inspired organic materials like flavins can serve as catalysts in photo-assisted redox reactions. The reactions use light to facilitate current generation, propelling specific transformations (converting CO2 and H2 evolution). Our proposal entails the synthesis of fine-tuned photoredox catalysts based on our previous results, the creation of photoelectrodes, and their evaluation in (photo)electrocatalysis.
